1st Annual Women’s Appreciation Dinner

Women’s History Month is an annual declared month that highlights the contributions of women to events in history and contemporary society. It is celebrated during March in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia, corresponding with International Women’s Day on March 8, and during October in Canada, corresponding with the celebration of Persons Day on October 18.[1]

Women’s Sub-Committee Chairperson Sabrena Lewis had to say this about the momentous event: “I wanted to be able to pull the women in from all over our membership and be able to educate them in unionism. I love seeing women smiling and standing together.”

Sabrena also mentioned that Union is family, being unionized and fighting for their Rights, Appreciation, and Recognition.” Sabrena had her 18 year old daughter perform at the event (Aaliyah Lewis) and perform a dance to the song “I Didn’t Know My Own Strength” by the late singer Whitney Houston (another powerful woman in history).
